I took a class taught by a Proffesional Engineer that is the cofounder of a failure analysis company in Seattle which focused on Products Liability. This class discussed the proper steps that an engineer needs to take in order to develope and manufacture a safe product. We also talked about proper instructions and warnings that need to be part of the final package of the product. These things not only help the customer but it helps the manufacturing in the case that a lawsuit comes against them. This class taught me a lot and was a very interesting view that involved both engineering and law. We had many visiting presentors, a couple of lawyers, some engineers and an ethicist. I believe that this topic is very important for engineers to keep in mind and I am very glad that I was able to take this class.
